Mission In 2006, Hungkuang University (HKU) respond to the aging of social development, and established the “Department of Senior Citizen Service management. Under the influence of the aging society with decreasing birth rate in the world, we change the name of department to “Department of Senior Citizen Welfare and Business”. As long-term care age comes, we establish the master program in 2015, and rename to “Department of Senior Citizen Welfare and Long-term Care Business (SCWLCB)” in 2018.
Values Taiwan will become a super-aged society in 2025. The establishment of SCWLCB follows HKU’s founding philosophy of “people-oriented, caring for life” and actively cultivates professional talents in high-quality elderly welfare and long-term care services. With the advent of a super-aged society and changes in family patterns, we need a large number of elderly-related professionals, such as elderly social workers, administrators of elderly-related institutions, elderly activity planners, and home service supervisors, etc., to cope with the aging process. The department was established in response to the needs and trends of society and the elderly service market and has developed rapidly.
